The power of the brain!

What's the most complex thing in the Universe? The Earth, The Sun, the Nature? What do you think it could be? Someone might not agree but it's the human brain. It's so complex that a famous scientist called it 'the most complex thing we have yet discovered in the universe'.

Your brain controls everything you do. From speaking, thinking, running to controlling your emotions, blinks and heartbeat.
The human brain isn't just an ordinary organ in human body, it's very complex because it's controls our whole body every second, every minute. Did you know that babies have big heads to hold rapidly growing brains? A two year old's brain is 80% of adult size, so that makes the brain the biggest organ in our body.

How can this organ weight something less than one and a half kilo? It's simply amazing, so small but so heavy. Here is the reason why. The brain contains about 100 billion neurons.
Don't be surprised, but it will take you several thousand years to count them all.
Every time you dream, feel something, think, move or do something else, that's because of the signals that are transported between the neurons.

The information between the neurons and the brain are sent with a speed of 240 kmph. But the answer from the brain back to the neurons to react can be sent with a speed of 320 kilometers per hour. Too fast, isn't it?

No computer can come close to your brain's incredible ability to download, process and react to the flood of information receiving from the eyes, ears or any other sensory organ.

Here are some interesting facts about the human brain:
  1. Only 5 minutes without oxygen can cause some serious brain damage.
  2. Your brain weighs about 3 pounds. The dry weight is 60% fat, making your brain the fattiest organ in the human body.
  3. Brain cells cannibalize themselves as a last ditch source of energy to ward off starvation. So in very real ways dieting can force your brain to eat itself. Remember this one!
  4. Your brain’s storage capacity is considered virtually unlimited. It can't be used up like the RAM memory in your computer.
  5. It’s often said there are 10,0000 miles of blood vessels in the brain when, in fact, that number is closer to 400 miles.
  6. Memory is more of an activity than a place. Any given memory is deconstructed and distributed in different parts of the brain. Then, for the memory to be recalled, it gets reconstructed from the individual fragments.
  7. All your neurons together can generate enough electricity to power a light bulb.

Here is a thought of the famous Nikola Tesla about the human brain:
"My brain is only a receiver, in the Universe there is a core form which we obtain knowledge, strength and inspiration. I have not penetrated into the secrets of this core, but I know that it exists."

At the end of this post I would like to give you an interesting tip.
There are some things that can help you learn and remember faster. One of them is exercising. It's well known that exercises that make your heart beat faster is good for your body and can improve your mood, it's less known about the effects of exercise on learning.
When you can't solve some problem, like: when you are writing math homework, solving some tasks or doing anything that you need to put good thinking effort to solve it, then just go outside and do some exercise and then come back to the problem. I've done that many times and it worked, believe me.
